Note that the 2011 weekly paddle days alternate, Thursday, followed by Wednesday, followed by
Thursday, etc., also that all outings meet at 5:30 p.m. at the put in site, unless circumstances
require either a time and/or a venue change.
Each trip shows a range of skill levels "which may be" required during the course of an outing. In
general, however, all of our trips can be safely done by novice paddlers. Occasionally, wind,
weather, other boaters, downed trees and fluctuating water levels will combine to make a trip much
more challenging, thus the skill level range. Do not be discouraged if you feel that you do not
have intermediate skills. Our experienced members and trip facilitators want you to enjoy paddling
and will aid you in having a safe and pleasant trip.
Here, shuttle time = vehicle shuffling time + time required to make a short portage to the initial
put in.
Notes
A These paddles are already determined, except for the corresponding dates. The events are as follows:
Boat rescues: presented by John Clark
La Crosse River: hwy 108, West Salem to N. Kinney Coulee Rd. (6.51 mi.)(Est. total time = 3.25 hrs.)
Lake Onalaska: sail boat club to sail boat club (red Oak ridge loop – 4.8 mi.) (Est. total time = 2.75 hrs.)
B At this time, I am unsure of this landing's name.
C This route takes the paddler down around the east side of Goose Island.
D Because these two routes cross the main channel of the Mississippi River there is a far greater risk that conditions could develop that would require expert paddling skills.
E This route takes the paddler down around the west side of Goose Island.
F These paddles we be announced on a weekly basis and will reflect the interests of this year's survivors.
